The Best Part of Super Bowl

The Best Part of Super Bowl

Half time is always entertaining, I absolutely loved watching my little Res in her Patriots sweater dancing the night away to JT, the games always exciting, the commercials are always interesting (my favorite was the one with Missy Elliot and Morgan Freeman), but let’s be honest the best part is always the food! Especially when you’re pregnant, like me!

This year we decided to have a super bowl party with family because it was my step dads birthday. We ended up with all the classic football favorites like mozzarella sticks, chips and salsa, my brother and sister in laws traditional spicy chicken wings and my moms hickory smoked sweet BBQ wings. For dinner we had pork and steak street tacos and we made them in our absolute favorite new kitchen appliance, The Instant Pot.! (click on the pic to get the best deal out there on an instant pot, straight to your door)

For dessert I ordered a birthday cake and canolis from Harmon’s because let’s be real, I just don’t have the time or patience to make a cake plus Harmon’s in SLC makes them fresh and custom for only $22! Since I saved time and my sanity on skipping making the cake I was able to make these fun and easy football Rice Krispie treats.

These football Rice Krispie treats were so super easy and the kids loved them! Instead of Rice Krispies I used cocoa pebbles obviously to make them brown like footballs and then I just used white frosting for the lacing. I didn’t even turn on my oven, just microwaved the mallows, melted some butter, shaped them into footballs and let them cool. Then added the icing lacing.

We had so much fun making them I may do it again for Valentine’s Day or St Patrick’s. If you want to try something quick, easy, and fun, pick up some food coloring and add it to the melted marshmallows. You could try red or pink for Valentine’s Day or green for St. Patty’s. Let me know if any of you do!
