Staying organized is one of my top priorities. Especially as things became even busier this new year with my hubby returning back to school while working full time and I doing the same. Doing this on a budget, in a small space, with a toddler is challenging because either things are too big, too expensive, or too fancy for a terrorizing toddler. So when it came to getting things in my home a little more functional this year I got smarter and once again turned to my absolute favorite online source. AMAZON.
I know I mention Amazon like it’s shopping on 5th Ave, but I seriously love it. It’s so easy and convenient and if you buy something you don’t like you can return it 99% of the time with no questions asked. Being an Amazon Prime member is literally my favorite membership above all. And that is saying a lot because I do love saving money at Costco, getting first access to Victoria Secret Semi Annual Sale, and getting my car washed an unlimited amount. However none of those memberships even begin to compare to the amount of love I have for Amazon Prime.
For those of you who are still in the stone ages and don’t have an Amazon Prime membership i’ll go ahead and break it down for you. First of all, free shipping, free returns. This makes buying things so simple because if there is ever a product I don’t like or something comes broken or isn’t as described I return it. Returns are so easy. All you do is go online, request a shipping label and drop it off at your nearest USPS or UPS. There’s no questions asked, no waiting in line, no terrible customer service from some low paid employee who doesn’t want to take your return, no losing receipts, none of it. It’s so quick and easy, and I love it. So everything from a swimsuit for my upcoming Hawaii trip to golf balls for my hubby, to toys for my toddler, to kitchen sponges, or even these beautiful shelves I’m about to show you. I shop Amazon. They have it all.
The second best thing about Amazon prime is most all of the popular products already have reviews. So for most items you don’t even have to try and guess if the product will be as great as you think it is or not, all you have to do is click the photos of it or read the reviews that other amazon customers. So that takes the guessing if it’s good out of the equation. Most of the time you’re buying a product that thousands of others have already bought and they love.
The third thing, and my most favorite is the 2 DAY SHIPPING! I’ll be the first to admit that I am not a patient person. When I want something I usually want it ASAP. Although if it comes down to waiting two days or me physically making the trip myself you already know I will be waiting the two days. Because having to get me dressed, get my 1 year old dressed, load her into a car seat, park, load her into a shopping cart, look for what I want, wait in line, check out the old school way swiping my card or counting out cash, go back out to my car, load my baby girl and wrestle her into her buckle, load the items, lock my car, return my cart, and then most of the time drive home with a crying baby because the trip was too long is never my idea of fun.
So with that being said you can bet your bottom dollar I will happily wait those two days. Because lets be honest, that’s what most store runs look like with a toddler. I’m sure you other moms can relate, and that is on a good day, that is not counting tantrums, blow outs, or the classic you get there and the babe is already sound asleep so then you wait an hour in the parking lot for them to nap. So yes, two day delivery is my absolute favorite part of the whole thing. Most of the time I order something, forget I even ordered it and then magically my doorbell rings and it appears. That’s exactly how I ended up with these beautiful simple shelves.
These shelves were honestly more of a need than a want because after Rewsey chewed up a few of my Chatbooks (another one of my favorite things I’ll talk more about in another post) and then spilt her sippy cup on one of my rented text books I finally decided I needed a place that I could store things out of her reach. My main concerns were price, simplicity, durability, and size. We live in a very simple two bedroom condo in Downtown Salt Lake City and although it’s double the size of our brownstone we moved from in Brooklyn, NY it still is a small space for 3 (soon to be 4) people.
That is why I LOVE these shelves. They offer all of those things. They’re durable, they don’t sag like most floating shelves. The price was affordable, only $30! They look clean and simple unlike many shelves that end up collecting dust upon all the many knick knacks. Also a bonus point was they were easy to install. My hubby did it in about 10 minutes with only a drill and a level. So if you are looking for a new way to get organized and gain some extra space first get an amazon prime membership (if you don’t already have one) and then go and get yourself these perfect little shelves!
