They say “when you know, you know”. Once we had that realization it didn’t take us long to plan the details. In fact basically everything was planned before he even proposed. With a friend having a destination wedding over Thanksgiving in Puerto Rico and us alredy having over a weeks time off and the flights paid for we knew it was the perfect opportunity to slip away. At first we wanted to elope however after trying to put that one past my family I realized that it wasn’t really an option, my mom really wanted to be there and originally I had asked my brother Tyce to be our officiant, not to mention Kylans family wanted to be involved too so we met in the middle. We were legally married at NY City Hall in Manhattan and held the wedding ceremony a month later in St. John, USVI.
On Tuesday October 27th, 2015 we made it legal! Kylan came straight from work and I met him at the SoHo Equinox with his suit and tie to get ready before grabbing a cab to City Hall. Our good friend Eliza came and captured a few gorgeous photos of us to document our official day, she did an amazing job.!
After our little photo shoot it was time for the real deal. The legal process was so simple and quck! I swear we were married in under 60 seconds, I didn’t even know what the official had said and all the sudden I was saying I do, which made me really glad that we were saving our special vows for our actual ceremony.
First we were given our wedding license, then we sealed it with a kiss!
We finished the night off celebrating with Kylans family and a few close friends at a beautiful restaurant downtown that Kylan picked out. Ironically it was called City Hall to keep with the theme of things.
Doing things this way was lovely, it gave us the freedom of having both of our families involved and saved us thousands of dollars, and a whole lot of uneeded stress, we were thrilled!
We decided that this day would strictly be our legal wedding date, just our way to get around the legal process. We kept it to ourselves and waited another month to publically celbrate our marriage forever as November 28th when we exchanged vows and celebrated our wedding cerermony in St. John.
